Waterberg to Etosher Pan

Early the next morning we set off northwards to Etosher.  It was already hot !

We stopped at the Hoba Meteorite, 60 tones of nickel-iron, there in the sand.

We had lunch at Lake Otjikoto, and took a short walk to the Lake.  It is very isolated and deep.  Of particular interest are the little fish who washed in here a long time ago, and due to no predation evolved differently.

According to Wikipaedia, the lake has a diameter of 102m and the depth is undetermined.  62m has been measured at the side and in excess of 142m in other areas.  Is was formed as part of a Kharst landscape, a limestone sinkhole.  During WW1 Germans dumped military equipment into the lake.

From here we travelled northwest and into Etosha Pan National Park at the Lindequist Gate.  Our first animal was a giraffe.  We drove to Namutoni Camp where we stayed for two nights.
