Walk from Narai to Kiso to Karuizawa

Each train is individual- the overall type is a shinkansen, but the train type/line will be asama in a particular direction, and then it has a number- so the asama 620 is a different time to the asama 621, but a different train stopping-style for a different name.

There are lines painted on the platform for queueing, people actually step out of the way for passengers to get off the train before they get on, and because the trains come in such quick succession there will be a queue for first departure and second departure!

Karuizawa town was very busy, much shopping available, so many foods I wanted to eat.  The ryokan showed its western influence, the lobby was very BUSY with clutter and ugly chintz couches and awful porcelain dolls.  Lovely place once in the room though, comfortable, everything catered for, and just as the call to dinner came the cleaning ladies turned up and one of them created a wonderful perfect bow for my yukata!
