After a day in Singapore visiting Jarong Bird Park, riding the hop-on bus and visiting Gardens in the Bay, we were exhausted, so back the Grand Pacific Hotel. Swam in their lovely pool, all to ourselves, then a fine dinner (Minestrone soup, fat wedges, fried rice and fruit platter) before being picked up by our transfer mini bus.
Quick transfer to Changi, and after checking in found a quiet spot to practice sleeping on the floor. Our flight was due to leave at 11.30pm, and left exactly then !
Our seats were one of the few twin seats on an exit row. Aby initially not enthusiastic as no pockets to put things. It was row 41, the first row after premium economy with a curtain separating the areas, so we ended up with an area in front of us which was not used much.
Dinner pleasant but hard work at midnight.
Day started somewhere between Singapore and London. As far as flying goes, got a bit of a sleep and the extra legroom made an otherwise terrible flight not so terrible. Woke up naturally at about 8am Singapore time, about 4 hours before our 6am, landing time, London time. So had an unrushed breakfast and ready to land half an hour early.
We watched the plane door being opened and managed to nearly get off first !. All good until we got to customs, they were not open. So we sat on the floor and waited !. Got through the airport in less than an hour, found the Heathrow Express train and got to Paddington. Managed the tube to Kingscross with an hour to relax and have a snack before boarding the train to Edinburgh.
