A day in Singapore

Woke up well slept, then pack, put bags in storage and off to explore

First a taxi to Jurong Bird Park.  Unfortunately entry is no longer covered by the Singapore Holiday Pass.  Enjoyed our walk through the park, quite extensive with wonderful managed gardens.

Then the rain came down, significant, heavy rain.  We made raincoats out of dustbin bags and continued our walk.

From Jurong Bird Park we got a taxi to the Botanic Gardens, where we walked through to get the yellow hop-on bus on the other side (part of Singapore package).  We got off at Suntec City hoping to find at pastry café we so enjoyed last visit – oh no  – gone.  So upstairs and after a mug of bubble tea sat down at a Korean restaurant.  After a discussion with the waiter we had Beed Bulgogo and Samgae Tang and barley water – great.

We hopped on to the next bus to the ‘Gardens in the Bay’ Walked through the Marina Sands hotel, the one with the surfboard on the roof, and into the gardens.

We got tickets to the enormous cooled glass house and did the loop walk around, part of the Stopover package

By now we were exhausted, so back to the bus stop through the Marina Sands Hotel and back the Grand Pacific Hotel.  Swam in their lovely pool, all to ourselves, then a fine dinner (Minestrone soup, fat wedges, fried rice and fruit platter) before being picked up by our transfer mini bus.

Quick transfer to Changi, and after checking in found a quiet spot to practice sleeping on the floor.  Our flight was due to leave at 11.30pm, and left exactly then !
