Walked across the road from the station to the YHA, and after an uneventful night, packed and off downstairs for a quick snack then across the road to the station, through the barriers and onto the platform ready for the train in 8 minutes. Oh-oh – announcements. All the people on the other side of the platform were told to get out as their train was going nowhere. Next a train arrived and they were told to get in (and where is my airport train now due) Next they were told to get out of that train, also going nowhere.
Meanwhile all the people waiting for the airport train felt their blood pressure go up ! No announcements and no train. We decided that it was time to get a taxi before the rush. Being a Saturday traffic was not bad and cost a similar amount to the train fare.
We joined queues, checked in, all the drama and so on. Off to our Singapore Airlines flight to Singapore leaving at 11.00am, no sooner and no later.
Our seats were in a back row with a bulkhead behind us, and being SIA we could recline the seats. Newish Airbus, lovely set up with touch screens USB etc Flew diagonally across Australia and got some lovely views of the desert and coast. Into Singapore on time, easy through controls and money changer. Pickup transfer from Singapore holidays and off through the darkening streets to the Grand Pacific Hotel on Victoria Street
