Seven in the morning and it is hot and humid. All the buildings are air-conditioned and as one walks along the pavement there are strange and wonderful food smells.
The main business areas of Singapore are very glitzy, so clean, so modern and so well organised. There are four different hop-on-bus routes, each a different colour. We enjoyed sitting on the top deck and doing a whole circuit. But first, an interesting breakfast of steamed chicken at a local shop.
The buildings in the modern part of the city are very varied in design, some are just strange! All over the city there are gardens, there is a very conscious attempt to green the city, but, even with all the plants we hardly saw any insects and few birds.
Singapore is a great place to take a hop-on bus. Of all the places we visited this was the best. There are lots of buses, lots of routes and in a compact city like this they give reasonable access to nearly everywhere.
The good and the bad of the Singapore Hop-on bus
