Public transport in Japan was just fantastic. Organised, concise, clear, timely, and everyone was always helpful. The train arrives, lined up perfectly with the doors on the platform (to prevent people and things falling onto the tracks), everyone is queued up out of the way- so the people on the train can get off before everyone else tries to push in, what an alien concept. Information boards had codes, numbers, times, and descriptions in Japanese characters and Roman.
Not all train toilets were grey and dull, some were swish and clean, but this was a traditional squat toilet on the train which is an interesting exercise in balance and concentration. Not at all dirty, either.
Everywhere is green- such rich soil, so much rain. Rice paddies all over the place, and lots of people have small vege gardens adjacent to their houses or their paddies. And solar farms!
