We hopped on the train in Pretoria. We were travelling Premier Class. Three dedicated carriages connected onto the Trans Karroo, the regular train. Our compartment, two beds, no bunks, and table and a view !
We travelled south from Pretoria, through Johannesburg and the mine dumps and squatter camps. The sun set as we passed through the Highveld and into the Karroo.
Dinner served as a single sitting and while we ate our beds were made up.
Tea and coffee in bed the next morning. We were in the Karroo. Through the Hex River Mountain and into Cape Town
