Up and off after breakfast. Taxi to the station as bags rather heavy and the slope rather steep. On to the rattler to Naples. Navigated the station and bought a ticket to Rome (rather expensive) then on to a rather comfy Ferro … train. Saw 299kph on the screen. Ride really smooth and did not feel the speed.
Took a taxi from central station to our hostel. And interesting ride and not too pricey. Roman taxis are nifty.
Our hostel was in an old part of Rome with tall buildings and narrow black cobbled streets. Very close to the river Tiber. This historic river was broad and deeply incised.
After settling in we took a walk, in particular to see the Pantheon as it is closed on some days. Walking in Rome is fun and tiring. Most people walk and it is busy.
