Next we travelled south through dry countryside to Twyfelfontein. (Means a site of intermittent water.) Bushmen/San have lived in the area and left their art on the rocks.
We walked up the rocks with a local guide who showed as the art and told us about the history of the area.
Many of the animals etched are not found in this area any more.
Most interestingly some of the paintings are abstract designs and not pictures of thing you can see
Usually the San paint with dye on the rock but these drawings are etched into the surface.
We drove from Twyfelfontein south west to arrive at Brandburg before the sun went down. Here we camped in the sand next to a dry river bed. Although a pleasant with all the basic facilities you need, it is still a very sandy place . The mountains are beautiful, and stunning as the sun sets, but it is mostly a place to visit to a see a view and move on unless you are a climber !
