Off to visit an abandoned mine

Nat and Aby made a dumb decision, to climb up to the abandoned mine.  No longer in use due to world wars, supply and demand, and technology changes.  Coal is just chillin all over the place, and it’s really high quality coal as it was laid down before woody plants were present on earth- so it is made from ferns, not from trees.  Current plants are all very small, out of the wind, but flourishing nonetheless. From the bottom, the slope looked fairly easy, and we were informed that kindergarteners go up there for school trips…  Helps to REALLY clarify with the information centre which mine EXACTLY is the one that small hoomans climb to.  We made it, but it was steep, I sank to my hip in snow and we had to deal with some unpleasant slipperiness.  Scree is fresh and often a bit unstable.  It seemed like a good idea at the time.
