Introduction to Germany

Germany is one of those countries we are not sure about, but I did want to take a Rhine cruise. So researched the cruise and found they where very slow, very expensive and all about fine food and luxury. I don’t mind fine food and luxury, but I would rather eat simpler food and holiday for twice as long !

So we were in Stockholm and on our way to the Rhine, but did not know exactly where we should go, there are lots and lots of places. Solution chose two towns, one on the Rhine and one on the Moselle which had youth Hostel (YHA) (bad move, see later)

Our route for the next few days

We could not get from Stockholm to the Rhine in one go, even with the fast trains so we spend a night in Lubeck. This was an interesting town and we could have spent longer.

Germany is a very large country and so say we have done Germany when only seen a small corner is an injustice. To form an opinion on a whole country having seen such a small part is an injustice as well.

We started our Germany exploration with a night in Lubeck, then two nights in Kaub on the Rhine and three nights at Trabben-Trarbach on the Moselle. We then left Germany to travel to Switzerland via a tiny bit of France and Luxembourg.
