A13-Photography, Some background to the pictures
I started taking pictures with a little box camera, but quickly moved upwards in quality and cost. For many years my photography was hampered by cost. Not the cost of a camera, a good second hand camera was readily available, but the cost of film, development and printing. Then came digital cameras.
I got an Olympus point and shoot digital camera in the late 90s, the pictures were okay, but the lag, oh sooo terrible, and the battery life even more terrible. But what was wonderful was the rate of improvement. Within a few years the point and shoots overcome most of the initial frustrations and the digital SLR became an affordable camera. Yeehar. Initially the memory was expensive, so a laptop needed to travel with us to download the pictures every day, but very soon the memory cards got cheaper and my recent trip was my first laptop-free adventure ! The newest camera has 2 memory card slots, so back up as you go !
Now some background to the pictures.
I take happy snaps, rarely are they ‘art’. I wish to take pictures to tell a story. I do like to take a good photo, but many pictures are less than perfect. In addition, this web page is about adventures, not a photographic exhibition !
Most of the pictures presented here are either scans of older photographs or digitals 1000 pixels wide. I use full size for prints, but don’t want to clutter a web page with lots of pixels !
