Japan has deliciously rich soil, and Kyoto rained basically every afternoon (as did the rest of it!) so the gardens are lush and beautiful, especially when combined with the Japanese aesthetics and care. Water lilies, but growing out of the water, which boggled my mind A couple in yukata- not dressed up, but simply normal summer wear for the locals, so pretty.
