We spent a day and a half in Innsbruck and enjoyed it thoroughly. It is a compact city, well run and easy to get about. We bought and Innsbruck card from the hostel and felt it was particularly good value.
- We managed to fit in – A visit to Ambross Castle
- Some serious shopping
- Three the cable cars up the Nordkette Mountains
- The Alpine Zoo
- A walk around the medieval old town.
- A visit to the Hofburg Palace.
- And plenty of time to walk about
Would we recommend Innsbruck ? YES, it is a pleasant alternative to the bustling overcrowded cities where cruise ships stop.
Innsbruck Medievil Town Centre
Innsbruck’s medieval town center is pretty lively. Lots of shops but still plenty of nice glimpses of the old structures. Plenty of tourists but not a great number of smokers like some cities. No cruise ships ??
Shopping
We also did a spot of serious shopping, mostly just looking …..
Apart from sight-seeing and photography some shopping was done. Found this amassing schnapps shop. So many flavours from modern to traditional. Very good, helpful and patient staff as well.
