Doges Palace

We visited the public areas of the Doges Palace after we had finished a private ‘Secret Itineraries‘ tour of the areas not open to the public. These massive rooms were there to intimidate and impress visitors to Venice.

Massive halls, so much shiny !
Everywhere is covered with expensive and grandiose chattels
These are some of the floor tiles
Think of the weight of that gold covered plaster

To us the Doges Palace was all too much – too big, too shiny, too ostentatious and the Bridge of Sighs very overrated.
