Windhoek to Etosher Pan Park

We flew from Cape Town to Namibia, Windhoek

We spent the night in Windhoek and joined our tour group with Karibu Safaris.  We left after breakfast and after a quick shopping stop travelled north to the Waterberg Mountains.

This was a catered trip.  We traveled in the truck with Jimmy to take us everywhere and Jason to do the cooking and cleaning up.  All we were required to do was put up and take down our tents. We arrived in the afternoon and after setting up camp walked up to the very welcome spring-fed pool. Then in the later afternoon as the sun was setting we walked up to the plateau where we saw Dikdiks, baboon, Lorie and Franklin.  On our return to camp dinner was ready.

Early the next morning (Namibia is hot) we left to travel north-east towards Grootfontein. We stopped to visit the Hoba Meteorite, 60 tonnes of nickle-iron.

……………….. The isolated Lake.  Fish in here are unique and have no predators.  They got washed in a long time ago and evolved differently.

We then traveled North-West and entered Etosha at the Lindequist Gate and headed for Namutoni Camp.  Etosha Pan is usually a dry inland lake.  There are water springs around the edge and animals congregate at these. Namutoni Camp is set up around the old German fort.
