Sydney to Cape Town the hard way

Dee – Bus to Lithgow, train to Sydney, taxi to airport. After a night took the 7am shuttle to International terminal. ,

Coffee at the airport overpriced and under-nice

Flight in the late morning – new Boeing, quite small.  My seat, 46K, was good.  Window to lean against and plenty of leg room.  The galley was at the back of the plane so not such a trolley problem, but the loo to close, noise and smell.

Well fed, though I was not impressed, Plenty of good snacks.  I tried to sleep but did not have much success.  Although we left half an hour late we did not bather the catch up time.  A 14hr flight and I am sure they did not want to waste fuel !  Smooth, except for the last half hour, typical bumpy and wet Joberg landing.

Airport – crap – as expected.  I don’t think much maintenance has been done in the last 5 years.  So tired and dim.

The next flight was 2hrs, full plane, a lot of African business people, a good meal, best today.  The plane got away very promptly and we arrived early.  Fast drive to Durbanville.
