After a leisurely breakfast we took the cable-bus down the hill to Bernina Diavolezza station. With help we bought tickets from the machine to Cavaglia. Climbed on at the little station and enjoyed riding through the snow up to the top of the Bernina Pass. We remembered the last time we went this way with meadows, cows and flowers. Part way down the other side we got off at Cavaglia at a ‘request stop’.
Next we took the train down to Poschiavo. Easter Monday so everything was closed, but we still enjoyed our walk through town up along the river and back through the old town centre.
Wandered around town a bit, got mildly lost, had an amassing lunch, then back on the train and up the hill. Enjoyed the change from green meadows and blossoms to 2 metre thick snow at Diavolezza where we got off.
Next – A short visit to Poschiavo
