Staying at the Diavollezza Berghouse

Diavolezza Berghouse, lift from the station on the right

Diavolezza Berghouse is in the middle of a ski area in winter and a walking area in summer. It is 3000m above sea level. It is not classy place although very comfortable. There are shared hostel type rooms, some big dorms as well as smaller rooms with shared bathrooms. We stayed in a room with en-suite on the first floor. Comfortably appointed, even with hot water bottles, spacious and had opening windows.

Not our room window, it was covered in snow !

The Berghouse does half board – breakfast and dinner. The cafe is open all day serving food to guests and skiers.

Dinner with a view

On the day we arrived we struggled to stay awake and stagged downstairs at 6.30pm for a lovely dinner of

  • Mixed salad
  • Spicy soup
  • Chicken, chip and veg
  • Apple cake pudding

Woke up nice and early the next day and did some serious sunrise photography before enjoying our breakfast.

Breakfast, included in the cost, and was a lovely Swiss breakfast with fresh cheese, good bread, cold meats, yogurt and muesli. Not a cornflake or white toast to be seen !

We spent a whole day resting, refreshing and enjoying the destination. We watched the cable-bus go up and down with many skiers.

Caught up with the reading and the sun

We enjoyed the mountain views as the sun moved across the sky and the shadows changed

As the sun set, most of the skiers left and the snow ploughs came out to groom the slopes

Gluwyn for a chilly evening

What we thought of Berghouse Diavolezza

  • Magnificent location
  • No drinking water
  • Bottled water too expensive
  • Comfy rooms
  • Hot water
  • Fairly rustic, clean but not classy
  • Good food
  • Not much to do if not a skier
