Had a good first night but never saw the sunset !
Interesting breakfast, mostly traditional Norwegian, cheese, cold meat, fish, rolls, but plenty of other stuff available.
Our first day on the ferry and the weather was great, mostly sunny some cloud and often a chilly wind. We made 6 stops during the day. We stopped at Floro for 15 minutes at 4am, slept through that. Then Maloy at 7, that was during breakfast, for 15 minutes. Stopped for half an hour in Torvik where we took a very short walk, looked at sheep, enormous sea urchins and some flowers.
Next stop was Alesund where we stayed for 3 hours. We took a walk. (click here) The boat stopped at Molde but we did not go ashore, then at Kristiansun at 10.15, we were asleep again !
So what does one do all day on a coastal ferry ??
- Take photos
- Look at the view
- Watch the cargo being loaded and unloaded
- Watch the staff practice their lifeboat duties
- Make cabin lunch
- See salmon farms
- Look at bridges from the underneath
- Watch ships and boats go by
- And look at more/different views
- and for a slight change of scenery, put your feet up and look at the view from a lounge and drink Irish Coffee
Here is a map showing the route and all the stops.
Next – A walk in Alesund
