Brandburg to Swakopmund

Next morning we journeyed south west towards the coast.  There was a noticeable temperature drop as we crossed the desert.

We stopped at the flattest part and were then told there were garnets to pick up, so everyone was one their hands and knees – amusing if you drove past, but no one drove past, it is so big and empty.

We stopped at Henties Bay for lunch – what a strange place.  In summer it is a very busy holiday resort, in winter, not a soul.

Up the coast to the seal colony at Cape Cross – smelly and chilly.

Then south again to Swakopmund where we stayed two nights in huts at the municipal campground.  It is an interesting town, surrounded by desert and sea.

Next – Swakopmund to Sossusvlei
